Digital Information
Can't I just Google?

  • Most of the information found by using Internet search engines, such as Google, is free.

  • Library digital resources (databases) contain copyrighted, licensed, and proprietary information.

  • Herscher CUSD #2  pays for access to digital resources so that students can access the information for free.

Most information retrieved from search engines such as Google hasn't been evaluated. It could be inaccurate, biased, or it might not be current. Information from the "free" Internet has to be carefully evaluated before using.

Articles found in the library's digital resources have already been evaluated for accuracy and credibility.

The Herscher CUSD#2 Libraries use Follett Destiny to digitally circulate and catalog their collections.  HIS fourth graders are taught to use the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog).

Herscher CUSD #2 offers World Book in several formats.

Kids - Elementary

Student - Middle Grade

Advanced - High School

Discover - Reluctant Readers

Spanish Language Edition
